People often find it difficult to comprehend why you seem so agitated and confused, yet the heat within your body is actually what’s causing all of your outward uncertainty.

For most people, the summer months can be particularly brutal since they detest the days of relentlessly long, harsh sun rays. Continue reading to see what you can do if you believe that your body is trying to tell you that it is hotter than it should be.

A body’s natural temperature is 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. When the body is unable to sustain homeostasis, a condition of stability and balance inside the body, heat stress results. Heat stress may result from this and cause a rise in body temperature. Body heat can actually increase for a number of reasons, including dehydration, improper food, prolonged sun exposure, or weariness, leaving you confused, fainting, and dizzy.

Signs of Body Heat

While there are numerous underlying factors that can contribute to body heat, such as chronic illnesses and lifestyle choices, hypothyroidism, multiple sclerosis, excessive caffeine usage, tiredness, over-exercising, dehydration, and prolonged sun exposure are some of the symptoms.

Here are some summer health tips do’s and dont’s suggested by Dr Vaishali Shukla to keep your body cool this season.

1) Do not exercise when the sun is up

Although morning exercise is acceptable, one should refrain from exercising when the sun is up since it would dehydrate the body, causing a depletion in muscle mass. It is recommended to exercise between 6 to 6:30 am in the morning during the summer season or between 5 to 6 pm in the evening (although it’s not recommended by Ayurveda .)

2) Avoid the consumption of spicy items

If possible, avoid or limit the consumption of spicy food items such as chutneys, chilli, garlic, and ginger since eating them during this season will lead to skin issues, a burning sensation in the chest or stomach or while pooping. Other signs include bad breath, anger, irritability and body odour.

3) Make use of external coolants

There are various things you can do to keep your body cool externally, such as bathing with chandan powder, putting 2-3 drops of peppermint essential oil beside you, bathing with khus-infused water, applying khus/chandan powder along with your moisturizer, applying a face mask made with organic lodhra powder and raw milk, immersing your face in ice water, taking a bath regularly and wearing cotton clothes.

4) Using internal cooling agents

Apart from making use of the external agents, there are a number of ways to keep your body cool from the inside, including drinking beverages such as aam panna, buttermilk, lemonade, coconut water and sherbets such as nimbu, khus, bel and fennel. Drink them one hour before or after, and never during your meals, except for buttermilk. Do not drink them early in the morning or late at night and refrain from drinking in larger quantities such as 700ml to 1 litre.
